"Scope Savvy" Debuts May 21st

Monthly Webinar for Nebraska Nurses

“Have we got news for you!! The Board of Nursing staff are teaming up to provide up-to-date information on practice issues and answers to your questions!! Please join us!”

— Ann Oertwich, Executive Director, Nebraska Board of Nursing (BON) and Nursing Licensing Department

The Nebraska BON is developing a new monthly one-hour virtual webinar series entitled Scope Savvy. Nebraska nurses of all license levels are invited to not only attend the webinar but encouraged to participate by asking questions during these live webinars. “Join Nebraska’s BON Executive Officer and Nursing Consultants each month for a live conversation that brings clarity, connection, and real-time guidance to your nursing practice,” added April Minster, Education Consultant. Participants can feel confident they are receiving accurate, practical, and up-to-date information when they join the conversation.

A Practical, Two-Part Format

The webinar is planned as an interactive space for nurses from all settings to stay informed and engaged. “Scope Savvy is about creating a consistent, welcoming space where nurses can learn more about current practice, share practice concerns, and strengthen their understanding of the profession,” says Danielle Dohrmann, Nursing Practice Consultant. Each Scope Savvy session will follow a simple dialogue structure.

First half: Focused Topic + Q & A

The host team, comprising the DHHS nurse licensing staff and a member of DHHS legal office, will present from the regulatory lens an overview on a selected nursing practice topic — such as LPN scope of practice, delegation, or APRN scope of practice — and allow time for Q & A from audience participants about the presented topic.

Second half: Open-mic format Q & A about Nursing Practice and Licensure

Scope Savvy audience participants can ask nursing practice or licensing questions on the show. This flexible format ensures Nebraska nurses can bring forward real-world scenarios encountered in practice and receive timely, expert information and guidance.

How to Join the Scope Savvy Webinar

Scope Savvy will be held monthly from 2:00–3:00 p.m. CT, starting May 21st. Pre-registration is not required. A link to the webinar can be found on the DHHS Nurse Licensing webpage, in addition to DHHS social media and announcements from other nursing and partner professional organizations.
